Cwmorthin is located in a valley near Blaenau Ffestiniog, Wales UK. It is the remains of one of numerous Slate Quarries dotted around this area. Life for the slate miners was hard, very hard and dangerous. Many walked up to 20 miles on a Sunday to the barracks and then home on the Saturday another 20 miles! Work was dirty and dangerous, but the area looks peaceful now as nature heals the wounds. See more about the history of Cwmorthin here.
